Some more glimpses of our trip to Davenport after breakfast last weekend, a tiny town above sharp cliffs that was founded about 150 years ago around a wharf built by a John Pope Davenport. Only twenty minutes or so up the coast from Santa Cruz, the landscape is far less crowded in summer than our popular beaches here; the cool, gusting winds deters most people from sunbathing very long. I was actually comfortable in a beanie and sweater, though. We bought beer and Strawberry Shortcake cups at a little store across the street to bring with us. I highly recommend the Davenport Roadhouse/Cash Store for a meal or glass of wine if you're ever on this stretch of CA-1. And if you've ever enjoyed a delicious Odwalla juice or smoothie, this is where they came from!
This looks incredible - I'll have to head out there sometime!
