Pinterest Challenge: DIY Tassel Earrings

I finished another project on my pinterest challenge list. I've been really sick, but I managed to do something productive over the weekend besides lying down and hoping my immune system gets it's act together... re-creating these golden safety pin tasseled earrings by Marc Jacobs was surprisingly easy! Check out my past challenges here.

Pinterest Challenge: Eclair Pie

Sisters Share It All: Pinterest ChallengeSo, consider this a very sweet Saturday. I've completed a second pin for the Pinterest Challenge (see the first one here). I tried the recipe for chocolate eclair cake from The Girl Who Ate Everything blog, and um, oh my deliciousness. I've been enjoying it for the last week and still almost can't believe it turned out completely, gloriously perfect. I was a bit worried about doing the pastry part but, by keeping an eye on it, everything went fine.

One of my favorite things about it is that *gasp* Eric liked it! We have a ton of things in common, but enjoying a dessert together is not usually one of our shared past times. The sugarless crust and cream cheese probably tricked his brain into thinking it's like cannoli, which he loves (I don't, because it's not sweet enough!) He even ate more than one piece! And everyone else who tried it raved about it, too.

Pinterest Challenge: Woven T-Shirt

First Pinterest Challenge DIY completed! The best tutorial I found for making a woven embellishment with jersey was this one from The Forge. As for sweaters, check out these solid slim-cut fleece crew-necks (they're on sale for $24!) or these options from Forever 21. I ended up using an old jersey top from there, plus a few snips of the scissor, some striped scraps, and voila! I am definitely doing this again. A plain basic top gets some color and texture for a sunny Saturday day spent with friends.

6 Week Pinterest Challenge

Sisters Share It All: Pinterest Challenge
Hello ladies and new blog friends! I wanted to tell you all about a pinterest challenge over on Merricks Art blog that I'm joining. Gotta get moving on some projects!

I definitely use pinterest daily to collect and organize all the ideas I see for diy, blogging, style, cooking, and decorating on a budget. However, I manifest those "great!" and "amazing!" pins into awesome real life projects much less often. And that's going to change starting now. Or tomorrow morning, to be exact.

Merrick and her two sisters have committed to recreating six pins in six weeks and will share the results afterward. I will try to post on each project individually. When I went into my archived pins to start narrowing things down for my six, which took quite a while, I re-discovered some projects I'd been really excited about in the moment, but then got lost in the daily shuffle. Here are the six pins I'm signing up for the project:
1. Sew a skirt+shirt=dress / 2. Marc Jacobs safety pin tasseled earrings / 3. Woven jersey top DIY
4. Eclair Pie / 5. simple tassel necklace / 6. Prouenza Schouler zip-bottom blazer
